The Somali Girls Rights Development Organisation (SGRDO) is proud to announce that our Executive Director, Ms. Faaduma Cali Iimaan, actively participated in the Women-to-Women Security (W2WS) System Mapping Workshop, organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
The workshop created a safe and inclusive space that brought together diverse voices—women, girls, minority groups, women’s rights organizations, and civil society actors. The exercise aimed to amplify perspectives that are often overlooked in shaping local security systems.
Key Objectives of the Workshop
During the system mapping exercise, participants worked collectively to:
- Map women’s security needs and lived experiences
- Assess women’s participation in local security systems
- Visualize the local security ecosystem
- Strengthen awareness, voice, and agency among women and girls
- Document lived experiences to inform inclusive policies
A Step Toward Inclusive and Sustainable Security
This participatory approach is more than just a dialogue—it is an essential step toward building responsive, inclusive, and sustainable security systems that reflect Somali women’s priorities. By centering women’s voices, the W2WS initiative highlights the importance of designing security frameworks that acknowledge diverse experiences and address the unique challenges faced by women and marginalized groups.
Ms. Faaduma Cali Iimaan’s contribution reflects SGRDO’s continued commitment to empowering Somali women and girls, ensuring that their voices shape the future of community safety and national security policies.
